The latest CDC statistics on Cardiovascular disease are rather grim; With an alarming number of approximately 659,000 people dying each year in the US alone, CVD is not to be taken lightly. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death not only in the US, but also worldwide. Previous studies have shown that eating more seafood was associated with a reduction in all causes and CVD-related mortality. Seafood is known to contain the following: heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fats Iron Iodine (during pregnancy) Choline Based on information published by the FDA, Choline, for example, supports the development of the baby’s spinal cord. The iron and zinc found in fish help to support children’s immune systems. Protein, vitamin B12, vitamin D, and selenium are also other sources of nutrients derived from fish. Nonetheless, many people choose to limit their seafood consumption because of fear of mercury exposure from seafood. Self-care Ideas - Guaranteed Results If You Make These Changes Now!

Over the years, people have been searching for the best anti-aging skincare product or method to combat aging, the universal phenomenon. However, unfortunately, aging is a harsh reality of life we all wish we could avoid, especially when all the signs of aging begin to appear. Here is the thing, though, why don’t we all focus on “self-care”?  The truth is when we focus on our overall self, we have a better chance of not only looking young but staying healthy as we age.

Another thing some of us are unaware of is the following visible signs of premature aging, such as:

  • Skin wrinkling

  • Sagging skin

  • Dull skin

  • Skin dryness

  • Skin stiffness, uneven skin tone, etc., are partly due to the sun and other environmental or extrinsic factors such as our lifestyles. So, for example, let’s look at diet, one of the main contributory factors we have exclusive control over yet often neglect.

Diet - The Deal Breaker

It’s a fact that our diet is one of the contributory environmental factors we have can control. So, therefore, it should be considered, in my opinion, one of the best self-care remedies to combat certain illnesses and diseases that can also affect the skin, causing aging skin, dry skin, skin stiffness, and loss of elasticity.

Skin Stiffness and Loss of Elasticity - The Role of Diet

Based on information from reputable medical research publications reviewed, glycation plays a role in intrinsic and extrinsic aging. The build-up of Advanced Glycation End Products(AGEs) contributes to the development of many degenerative disorders, including aging. It’s believed that the production of AGEs in the skin cell and ultimate build-up in connective tissues helps to cause stiffness and loss of skin elasticity.

Glycation

Glycation refers to the harmful compounds formed when protein or fat is combined with sugar in the bloodstream. Diet is believed to be its greatest contributory factor.

Researchers found that the highest level of AGEs(advanced glycation end-products) was in the fats group of our diet, followed by meat and meat-substitute groups. Contrarily, the least was observed in the carbohydrates group.

How You Prepare Your Meals Make A Difference

Based on the findings, dry heat promotes new dietary Advanced Glycation formation by greater than (10  to 100) times above the uncooked state across food categories.

Animal-based(meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy)foods high in fat and protein are generally AGE-rich and susceptible to new AGE formation during cooking

The following, in contrast, contain relatively few AGEs, even after cooking:

  • carbohydrate-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and milk

The formation of new dietary advanced end products(dAGEs) during cooking was blocked by the AGE inhibitory compound aminoguanidine, and it was reduced a lot by the following heat sources and food preparation methods:

  1. Cooking with moist heat

  2. Using shorter cooking times

  3. Cooking at lower temperatures

  4. By using acidic ingredients such as lemon juice or vinegar

In addition, some scientists believe that some culinary herbs and spices can prevent fructose-induced glycation(fruit sugar reacting with protein to cause some complications and accelerate aging) such as the following:

  • Cinnamon

  • Cloves

  • Oregano

  • Allspice

Additionally, some compounds, such as those listed below, are also involved in the inhibition of AGE formation:

  • Ginger

  • Garlic

  • Alpha-lipoic acid and  Alpha-tocopherol

Conclusion

One of the best self-care DIY remedies is right there in your home, and it’s not in jars or bottles loaded with chemicals. It’s not delivered pre-prepared; You get to prepare it from scratch in the comfort of your own kitchen. So, with all this said, why not go ahead and change your diet and the way you prepare your meals. This can help you live healthier and delay signs of premature skin aging such as dull skin, dryness, skin stiffness, and loss of elasticity.

Functional Disorders of the GI Tract - The Role of High- Carbohydrate Diets

Firstly, I must extend a special thanks to everyone who has been hanging out with me on this blog. Secondly, I would like to know which of you likes fishing the way I do? I know some of you enjoy fishing a lot, but not all of us love to fish for the same type of fish. For example, I was up late last night fishing, but I was fishing for something somewhat different from the norm. I was fishing for information on FGIDs(Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders), and this is what I found. FUNCTIONAL GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS Approximately 25 million Americans experience a functional GI disorder based on one source. FGIDs account for 40% of a gastroenterologist’s practice. Although 50-80% of these individuals may take over-the-counter remedies and report remarkably higher rates of job or school absenteeism and disability, they do not see the doctor. The writer went on to say that any section of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including the esophagus, stomach, and intestines, can be affected ...
